Abstract

The operating experience of the AVR during the final stages of its life in 1988 are summarized. The availability factor is discussed, as influenced by the installation of special test equipment in the core and by damage to the steam generator. The release of fission products from the core, personnel radiation exposure levels and the test program on residual heat removal during loss of coolant experiments are described.
