Abstract

The exact cause of rupture of Achilles tendon is on the one hand one cause factor; on the other hand it is multifactor one. Several theories are known not to be mutually exclusive. By having considered the mechanisms of the injury we found that the triceps surae reacted in response to sudden lengthening by reflex maximal eccentric contraction, the force of which was sufficient for rupture the Achilles tendon.
