Abstract

The article examines the musical world of N.V. Stankevich, who managed to create in the first half of the nineteenth century a special atmosphere of hearing and understanding music not only for himself, but also for a whole generation of literary friends of that time, as well as to develop an active discourse about the nature of music and its role in human life. All this formed the basis of the national thought on music.
