Abstract

The article is devoted to the current state of German arms exports and supply directions. The main focus is on exports carried out within the framework of cooperation with the United States and NATO. The article examines the socio-political debates that are caused by exports to "third countries" that contradict political principles. The article analyzes the legislation on the basis of which the sale of weapons and the supply of four major companies, including Heckler & Koch, Rheinmetall, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and Kraus-Maffei Wegmann. The article concludes that the results of the federal elections in 2021 and the beginning of a special operation in Ukraine in 2022 have posed new challenges to the government of O. Scholz. They are connected with the discussion about the sale of lethal weapons to the countries of the conflict.
