Abstract

Objectives: Enhanced tryptophan degradation, induced by the pro-inflammatory cytokine interferon-γ, has been related to cardiovascular disease progression. We assessed individual tryptophan metabolites of the kynurenine pathway as predictors of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in patients with stable angina pectoris, and evaluated whether presence of diabetes modified the associations between kynurenines and AMI.
