Abstract
Introduction: The deposition of ectopic fat is linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD). The principal sites of ectopic fat deposition are the liver parenchyma, skeletal muscle and the heart. Systematic reviews have demonstrated some associations between increased epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) volume and markers of subclinical coronary artery disease on computed tomography angiography (CTA). The evidence of the association of hepatosteatosis (HS) and CVD is conflicting. We sought to investigate the association of EAT and HS with CVD in patients referred for CTA.
