Abstract
In the field of discrete parts manufacturing industries, FA or factory automation has been brought into practice, since the latter half of 1970s. And now, CIM(Computer Integrated Manufacturing) is gaining much attention as advanced or future manufacturing system in a prospect of 1990s. Therefore, FA system (or plant-operation system) should be integrated with production planning, design/engineering system, as Integraed FA. In this paper, the Integrated FA with extensive view of CIM, is defined by identifying its objectives, scope and basic concept. And then, the system architecture of this integrated FA, which is composed of functional, information, computer system and network architecture, is built up on its reference model.
