Abstract

During the first Soviet occupation of Lithuania, which lasted from June 1940 to June 1941, gradual changes were planned to be implemented in the country’s field of architecture. Although the occupation was short and lasted only a year, the design structure was changed according to the Soviet model, many architectural ideas were planned to be implemented, and a number of design projects of the new buildings were developed. Therefore, this article, based mainly on archival and historical material, analyses the architectural activity and the peculiarities of this process that took place in Lithuania during the first Soviet occupation.
