Abstract

Objective To investigate the optimal method of fixing indwelling nasogstric tube.Methods The patients with indwelling nasogastric tube totaled 240 cases were randomly divided by non-stick girdled method (Group A), tape and cotton double fixation ( Group B) or ordinary tape (Group C) .The rate of nasogastric tube prolapse, skin allergy and nasopharyngits were observed to compared among three groups.Results For group A, no nasogastric tube prolapse and no skin allergy, whereas the rate of nasopharyngitis occurrence was 20%.The nasogastric tube prolapse and nasopharyngitis occurrence rate of group B were 10% and 58.8% separately.The efficiency of group C was poor, 17.2% patients had nasogastric tube prolapse.In group B and C skin allergy occurred, the rate of skin itch was 11.3% and 13.8% separately.Conclusiion Non-stick girdled fixation method can prevent nasogastric tube prolapse, reduce the rate of skin allergy and nasopharyngitis occurrence.
