Abstract
Microbial enzyme biotechnology has progressed rapidly in the last decade. Traditionally, its main applications have been limited to the food industry and a few miscellaneous industrial processes 1. However, developments in microbial fermentation, genetics and enzyme isolation and immobilization have recently widened the use of such technology. Here we illustrate the potential of bacterial enzymes in clinical chemistry.
