Abstract

Formative assessment, a positive and encouraging assessment method, has attracted a great deal of attention in the field of English language teaching and learning (ELTL) [1]. However, given the limited studies on College English learning in the context of Chinese independent college, this paper is to fill the gap to some extent, by discussing the current assessment problems in College English Learning and accordingly, some effective formative practices from both sides of teachers and students will be suggested.
