Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of clinical nursing pathway in the prevention of hypoglycemia of neonate. Methods A total of 200 cases of neonates with high risk of hypoglycemia born in our section from June 2014 to June 2015 were randomly divided into the control group and intervention group. The intervention group implemented the clinical nursing pathway to prevent hypoglycemia. The control group received routine care and health education guidance. The value of blood sugar after the birth of 0.15 hours, 1 hour, 4 hours, 7 hours and 8 hours were monitored. If the blood glucose value was less than or equal to 2.2 mmol/L, the newborn should be sent to NICU care. The incidence of hypoglycemia, the hospitalization rate for hypoglycemic pediatric referral, the health knowledge, satisfaction of patients and their families were compared between the two groups. Results The blood glucose values after the birth of 0.15 hours, 1 hour, 4 hours, 7 hours and 8 hours of the experimental group was obviously lower than that of the control group (P<0.01). The incidence of hypoglycemia of the experimental group(15%) was lower than that of the control group(28%), and the rate of infants' transfer to Pediatrics of the experimental group(2%) was obviously lower than that of the control group(12%), and the difference was statistically significant. The satisfaction for nursing and the pass rate of health knowledge of the experimental was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusions The implementation of clinical nursing pathway in the prevention of hypoglycemia in neonate can obviously improve the quality of nursing, standardize the nursing workflow, detect the neonatal hypoglycemia earlier, reduce the nursing risk of hypoglycemia in obstetrical ward, improve the quality of nursing and improves patients′satisfaction.
