Abstract

The wear status of the parts used in biomass briquetting in China has demonstrated that rapid wear is one of the major challenges in the development of biomass briquetting equipment. In this paper, we propose the use of ceramic wear resistant materials as a solution to the problem, and list and compare the performance of equipment that mainly used ceramic material. Our tests show that ceramic material has only one-tenth the wear of conventional alloys. The product quality can meet the high standard of biomass briquetting fuel, so it is technically feasible to replace the high-performance alloy with ceramic material. The reasonable scheme, both in theory and in practice, to solve the rapid wear problem is the application of ceramics instead of metal materials, because it can extend the maintenance cycle significantly and can also comply with the machinery manufacturing requirements for development.
