Abstract

Objective To study the effect of holistic nursing on elderly patients with reflux esophagitis and its influence on treatment compliance. Methods 80 elderly patients with reflux esophagitis treated in our hospital from December 2015 to December 2016 were selected as the study object, and were divided into two groups, namely the control group and the observation group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional nursing, and the observation group was given holistic nursing including diet, life, and mental nursing based on conventional nursing. The treatment compliance, the incidence of adverse reactions, nursing satisfaction, and life quality of the two groups were compared. Results After nursing intervention, the total compliance rate in the observation group (90%), the nursing satisfaction (92.50%), the score of quality of life [(62.10±7.34)] were higher than those in the control group [70%, 75%, (53.21±6.32)]; the incidence of adverse reactions of the observation group (7.50%) was lower than that of the control group (25%); there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion For elderly patients with reflux esophagitis, the use of holistic nursing intervention has significant effect, can help to improve the compliance of treatment, reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, and is worthy of further promotion and application. Key words: Reflux esophagitis; Holistic nursing; Routine care; Quality of life
