Abstract
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Two types of h oney, acacia and lime honey, collected in the south-eastern region of Romania , were investigated for their total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, free radicals scavenging activity and reducing power activity. Acacia honey sample presented the highest amount of total phenolic compounds when compared to lime honey, which possessed good radicals scavenging activity and the highest amount of total flavonoids. The results suggest a relationship between honey total polyphenols and free radicals scavenging activity determinated by chemiluminescent assay. Moreover, the concentration of honey phenolics and flavonoids seemed to correlate with honey reducing power activity.
