Abstract
Female bovine reproduction relies upon the health state of its reproductive system. Morphometry plays an important role in anatomic description and provides important data for reproductive health assessment. The aim of this study was to provide morphometric data of the main components of the adult female bovine reproductive apparatus, following 11 parameters (right and left ovary length and width, right and left oviduct lengths, uterine horns length, uterine body length, cervix length, vaginal length). The samples for this study were collected from 5 cows of the BAƒlA£atAƒ RomA¢neascAƒ breed, from a local slaughterhouse located in the region of Transylvania. Each reproductive apparatus was examined and measured using a standardized measuring tape. All values were recorded in cm. The registered values regarding the segments of the female genital apparatus in the BAƒlA£atAƒ RomA¢neascAƒ cow breed, are generally inferior to the means presented by the consulted literature, in the case of the oviduct, the uterine horn, the cervix and the vagina, but correspond to them in the case of the uterine body. The dimensions of the ovaries partially reflect literature data, but show a great fluctuation, due to the plasticity of this organ according to the sexual cycle of the cow.
