Abstract

AbstractThe anodic behaviour of lead has been studied at Pb/PbSO4 and PbSO4/PbO2 potentials in sulphuric acid solutions in presence of copper and cobalt ions by galvanostatic and potentiokinetic methods. The presence of cobalt ions has been observed to exert a beneficial effect in reducing the anodic dissolution of lead. Anodic corrosion products, in function of cations in solution, have been analyzed by X‐ ray diffraction technique. A schematic model of passivated lead anode in presence of cobalt ions has been proposed.
