Abstract
Using a simplified procedure we find the general analytic solution for the spectrum of the surface spin excitations in two-sublattice Heisenberg ferrimagnets in the closed form. We obtain simultaneously two bulk energy bands and also one surface excitation branch associated with each bulk band. These surface excitation branches could be either optical or acoustic, depending on the ratio of surface to bulk exchange integral η=JS/J. Our results include as a special case the results for the purely geometrical surface effect (η=1), previously known from the literature.
