Abstract

Objective To analysis and research the status of sharp instrument injury at all levels of nursing staff. Methods Questionnaire survey with 240 nursing students and 240 clinical nurses in the incidence of sharp instrument injuries, happened aspect, deal with measures and the effects before and after security courses were completed. Results The incidence of sharp instrument injury in different groups of first-year nursing students, second-year nursing students, third-year nursing students, the nurses of 1 year work experience, 3 years work experience, 5 years work experience were 15%, 40.0%, 81.3%, 66.3%, 48.8% and 28.8%, respectively. Accepting the security courses could effectively reduce the incidence of sharp instrument injury. Conclusions Sharp instru-ment injury is the major factor of nurses' occupational injury. Set up systemic and scientific occupational safety education and raise protection awareness are the key to reduce occupational injury.
