Abstract

A method is described, based on the insolubility of lithium phosphate, for determining phosphate in presence of phosphite and hypophosphite. Phosphite in presence of hypophosphite may be oxidised selectively at 0° by bromine water. These analytical procedures are applied to the study of the mixture of phosphorus oxy-anions formed in the complete alkaline hydrolysis of P 4S 3 and P 4S 7.
