Abstract

The standard market for architecture is missing out on opportunities to boost cultural, social and symbolic capital. By generating projects through activism rather than waiting for clients, members of the Berlin‐based group raumlabor are evolving a new kind of citymaking. Co‐founders Christof Mayer and Markus Bader explain how this informal network of architects operates, and what it has achieved so far – including local development initiatives and an open university where everybody is welcome to contribute to the conversation.
