Abstract
In 1795 appeared a pamphlet by the Calvinist preacher Thomas Williams entitled The Age of Credulity. The occasion of this publication was the public support given by the orientalist, philologist and close ally of Warren Hastings, the MP for Lymington (Hampshire), Nathaniel Brassey Halhed to the self-styled prophet, millenarian and Anglo-Israelite, Richard Brothers.
