Abstract

Finally, belatedly, President Clinton delivers a major address on science and technology, and what happens? At first, the media totally ignores the speech's major points because he chose this vehicle—a commencement address on May 18 to Morgan State University, Baltimore—to announce an AIDS vaccine initiative. Then, when a few large newspapers eventually pick up elements of his speech, what do they highlight? Said the president: science, if the last 50 years were the age of physics, the next 50 years will be the age of biology. Arrgggh!!!!!! The President of the United States cannot possibly write all his own speeches. In fact, he's got a whole staff of speech writers. But who, please tell me, wrote this particular piece of drivel?
