Abstract
The isothermal section of the Ag 2Se–HgSe–SnSe 2 system at 670 K was constructed using X-ray powder diffraction analysis and metallography. Three intermediate quaternary phases, Ag 2HgSnSe 4, Ag 2.66Hg 2Sn 1.34Se 6 and ∼Ag 6HgSnSe 6, exist in the system. The crystal structure of the Ag 2HgSnSe 4 compound was investigated using X-ray powder diffraction (space group Pmn2 1 , a=0.8461(1), b=0.7340(1), c=0.69901(6) nm, R I=0.0693). The constructed phase diagram of the Ag 2Se–HgSe system is of the eutectic type with limited solid solution ranges of the components.
