Abstract

The second African trypanosome genome network meeting took place in Cambridge, UK, 1–4 April 1997. Laboratories engaged in research into the molecular biology of T. brucei were invited via letter, e-mail and the World Wide Web. This meeting and much of the work discussed was supported by the UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) Parasite Genome Committee. The report of the 1997 African trypanosome genome project network meeting may be viewed in full at http://parsun1.path.cam. ac.uk/rep97.htm. This site also contains details of the available biological resources, how to order them and how to use them. EST sequences are deposited first in dbEST before transfer to any other database. The names given are of those presenting data and does not include all collaborators: contact addresses may be found on the Web site. I thank Elisabetta Ullu for comments.
