Abstract

1. A method for studying the adsorption of water vapor at low equilibrium pressures has been developed; with it one can investigate the individual adsorption of water vapor and the partial adsorption of water vapor in the presence of hjdrocarbons. 2. Precision parameters, applicable over the interval from 2 to 30 water molecules per zeolite cavity, have been obtained for adsorptional equilibrium in the NaX-water vapor system at 25‡C. 3. The forms of the water-vapor adsorption isotherms for NaA and NaX are such as to suggest the existence of two types of adsorbed water-zeolite interaction. 4. Analysis of adsorptional and x-ray structural data indicates that adsorbed water has higher density and lower mobility than liquid water at the same temperature.
