Abstract

A high-resolution study of the 70Ge( 3He, d) 71As reaction has been performed. Ten new states in 71As were observed below 2.7 MeV excitation. The ground state transition is characterized by l p = 3 transfer and states at excitation energies of 0.15, 0.50 and 1.42 MeV by l p = 1. The experimental transition strengths favour the assignments of J π = 5 2 − and 3 2 − for the ground state and first excited state of 71As, respectively.
