Abstract

The angular correlation measurement of the 6Li(p, 2p) 5He reaction at 100 MeV has been performed in a symmetric and coplanar geometry covering an angular range from 30° to 54°. Two conventional ΔE-E telescope systems were used to detect the two outgoing protons. Excitations to the three lowest states of 5He were observed. Experimental form factors for the ground state and the 16.7 MeV state were evaluated and the characteristic momentum distribution parameters were extracted. A value of 1.40±0.12 was obtained for the peakto-valley ratio of the ground state form factor, indicating deviations from the simple shell-model description for the ground state of 6Li. The cross-section ratio of the 16.7 MeV state to the ground state was observed to vary with incident energy. This might reflect the increasing significance of distortion and absorption effects at lower incident energies.
