Abstract
Absorption and emission spectra of Cu - ions doped in NaCl, KCl and KI crystals investigated from 300 K to 15 K. Eight absorption bands including five weak bands have been observed in NaCl: Cu - at 15 K. It is concluded that a relatively strong band peaking at 288 nm corresponds to the C band of the 3d 104s 2→3d 104s4p (i.e. s→p) transition in the Cu - ions, whereas seven other bands including two relatively strong bands are attributable to the 3d 104s 2→3d 94s 24p (i.e. d→p) transition.
