Abstract

The absolute value of the differential cross section of the 16O( 3H, p) 18O(g.s.) reaction is determined using the DWBA method of Mathur and Rook. The nucleon-nucleon interactions are central velocity-dependent potentials of exponential form whilst the triton ground state is taken to contain S and S′ states only, whose spatial functions are of product form with short-range correlations. Our results are in good agreement with the hard-core calculations of Mathur and Rook and with experiment. We also obtain an independent evaluation of P S′, the probability of the S′ state in the triton.
