Abstract

Objective: Describe the current implementation and need for continuous training in basic techniques of nurses at some clinical departments, National Children's Hospital in 2020. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on 113 nurses at 3 centers and 1 clinical department of the National Children's Hospital, from October 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. Results: Research results showed that over 80% of self-identified nurses have been fully trained in 12 techniques in the basic technique group. The techniques reportedly need to be prioritized including: (1) Pain assessment and treatment process (74.34%); (2) Blood transfusion techniques and blood products (69.91%); (3) Intramuscular injection technique (69.03%); (4) Intradermal injection technique (69.91%). The nurses should update their medical knowledge regularly and continuously, in order to improve the quality of patient care. In addition, the continuous training courses were preferred to organize at the hospital, the duration of the course is from 2 to 3 days.
