Abstract

Cadmium oxide (CdO) films on the surface of CdS single crystals were obtained using the method of photothermal oxidation (PTO). The films possess a textured structure and exhibit n-type conduction. The electric resistance of CdO films depends on the intensity of UV radiation used in the PTO process: low-and high-ohmic films are obtained upon the irradiation at (1−1.5) × 103 and (4−5) × 103 W/m2, respectively. The possible practical applications of obtained films are considered.
