Abstract
A large tome that makes it to a fifth edition is a classic standard textbook. Indeed this one is the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of books on paediatric infection. There are now over 3300 pages in 2 volumes and 245 contributors covering every important topic from the two angles of clinical infection and specific micro-organism. It has clearly been updated and includes chapters on SARS and bioterrorism, I was impressed that with SARS, the chapter was apparently updated during the editing phase.
