Abstract

This section describes the story of the Great King Gyebu in Lepcha language with its English translation. The phonemes of Lepcha are represented both in the romanisation as well as in a phonetic transcription in the International Phonetic Alphabet. The phonetic transcription is given between square brackets. The transliteration used here is largely phonological, and the few phonological ambiguities that arise from the transliteration are discussed. Keywords: King Gyebu; Lepcha; phonetic transcription; transliteration
