Abstract

Tetraphenylantimony phenylacetate (I) has been synthesized by a reaction between pentapheny-lantimony and triphenylantimony bis(phenylacetate) (II) in toluene with a yield of 94%. Complex II has been synthesized from triphenylantimony, phenylacetic acid, and hydrogen peroxide in diethyl ether with a yield of 76%. A Sb atom in complexes I and II has a distorted trigonal bipyramidal coordination to electronegative ligands in axial positions: The axial angles (CSbO or OSbO) and equatorial CSbC angles are 174.98(10)° and 116.05(11)°–121.77(12)° (I), 172.54(17)° and 108.0(6)°–141.24(17)°, respectively. The Sb–O and Sb–C bond lengths are 2.239(2) and 2.101(3)–2.182(3) A in I, and 2.116(8), 2.131(10) and 2.109(10)–2.125(5) A in II. There also exist Sb···O=C intramolecular contacts of 3.353(3) A in I and of 2.923(3) and 2.947(3) A in II. The structural organization in crystals is provided by weak H···O intermolecular hydrogen bonds (2.42–2.64 A in I and 2.65 A in II).
