Abstract
Abstract The aim of the article is to present a novel, innovative method of monitoring endogenous fire hazard in hard coal mines, based on a system of temperature sensors placed within solid coal. The developed system of monitoring the level of endogenous fire hazard was tested in an active hard coal mine in Poland. The scope and the method of temperature measurements with downhole temperature sensors in solid coal were presented in detail. Results of systematic temperature monitoring fire prevention activities are presented.
