Abstract
ABSTRACT This literature review systematically analyzes 100 critical scholarly articles, utilizing testimonio as a primary research method and methodology, alongside literary criticism. This descriptive and pragmatic methodological examination explores scholars’ processes to collect testimonios, highlighting the various data collection procedures involved. Testimonio as collaborative intellectual production framed in critical race feminist methodology is a multimethodological research design that was analyzed and numerically tabulated. The reviewed literature was classified into two categories and nine subthemes. Fundamental Methods, the first category, encompasses several subthemes: (1) Co-creation, (2) Critical Ethnography, (3) Autoethnography and Autobiography, (4) Narrative and Journalism, (5) Art-based Approaches and Pláticas, and (6) Reflexivity and Reflexión. The second category, Peripheral Perceptions, introduces the following subthemes: (7) Synoptic Literature Review, (8) Literary Criticism, and (9) Guidelines. This project emerged in response to the lack of examinations specifically focused on the range of techniques for data collection procedures, and summarizes the most remarkable theoretical frameworks, epistemologies, and characteristics.
