Abstract
ABSTRACT As Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs) continue to emerge, so has the discourse around servingness and for whom. Scholars have questioned which populations of Latinx/a/o communities are being privileged in servingness calls for more culturally relevant practices, policies, and systems. Paralleling these inquiries, a growing area of literature has emphasized the imperative of serving queer and trans Latinx/a/o (QTL) people at HSIs. This manuscript serves as an atravesada, meaning it intervenes conversations of servingness by asserting the need for continued research on queer and trans issues at HSIs, especially when framed from perspectives of servingness. Specifically, in reviewing the extant scholarship of QTL communities at HSIs, we provide areas for further exploration for researchers hoping to contribute to these lines of inquiry.
