Abstract
The design and fabrica tion of a test rig intended for the measurement of the dynamic coefficients (stiffness and damping) of a bearing elastic support ring at temperatures from ambient through 1000F. Three elastic rings, with different degrees of interference fit were tested. A n inconel doughnut that contained the rings with the ring -dough nut assemblies installed over a Silicone Nitride pin. The displacement of the inconel doughnut was measured relative to the Silicone Nitride pin with a known cyclic load applied. A data acquisi tion system using Labview recorded and reduced the data, providing the ring’s stiffness and damping coefficients as a function of frequency at a given temperature .
