Abstract

The Stanford-Binet Inelligence Scale, Form L-M (S-B) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) were administered to a group of mentally retarded school children who had previously taken a slightly modified version of Sarason's Test Anxiety Scale for Children (TASC). The S-B IQ did not differ significantly for the high test-anxious (HA) and low test-anxious (LA) children, but the performance of the LA children was superior that of the HA children on a set of 20 non-verbal items. Similarly, the WISC Full Scale and Verbal IQ did not differ significantly as a function of test anxiety, but the performance of the LA children was superior to that of the HA children on the Performance scale.
