Abstract

The article focuses on crucial questions concerning the Territorial Defence Forces. It demonstrates reasons for creating them as a branch of the armed forces. Alongside some aspects of this formation’s history, key solutions implemented by other nations are shown. The major part of the article is a specification of potential tasks of the Territorial Defence Forces in non-military emergencies — crisis situations. Key tasks are presented with an emphasis on the uniqueness of each single crisis.
