Abstract

Generally speaking, terminology management refers to a range of activities involved in designing, collecting, documenting and processing data to create a terminology resource. Given that terminology is essential to professional communication and practice in any field of expertise, the present paper argues in favour of integrating fundamental principles of terminology management into ESP teaching. In particular, the aim of the paper is twofold: to share the authors’ experience with such an interdisciplinary approach to teaching ESP to second-year students in Communication and Public Relations at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Politehnica University of Timişoara, Romania, and to pinpoint the ways in which practical terminology work, carried out by our students among other more traditional ESP specific activities, greatly benefits future Public Relations (PR) specialists.
