Abstract

Ocular trauma is a leading cause of permanent vision loss and hospitalization worldwide. The ocular injury also limits the quality of life and has a significant economic burden on both patients and the health care system. Ocular trauma is divided into open-globe injuries and closed-globe injuries. On both types, the posterior segment may be injured. Being one of the main causes of permanent vision loss, traumas affecting the posterior segment are of critical importance in significantly reducing visual acuity.
