Abstract

The article analyzes the concept of overload in relation to freight vehicles in conditions of weight control of vehicles. Based on the results of the analysis of a number of publications in this area, including scientific ones, it is indicated that the term "overload" used in them is identified with exceeding the normatively established permissible mass and (or) loads on the axles of the vehicle, which, in the reasonable opinion of the author, is incorrect. Based on knowledge in the field of terminology theory and guided by existing dictionary definitions of overload in railway and maritime transport, it is proposed to give the term "overload" in truck transport a similar meaning. Keywords freight vehicles, weight control, standard road loads, overload, vehicle axle loads, transport terms
