Abstract

Na is an interesting candidate for p doping of ZnSe in epitaxial growth processes. Thus, it is most important to study Na-related optical transitions in bulk ZnSe. For the first time, the fine structure of the energy levels of the respective acceptor-exciton complex in ZnSe:Na is investigated by excitation spectroscopy, and their g values are determined by magneto-optics in fields up to 15 T. It is shown that the dominant lines I 1 and I ' 1 belong to the exchange-split ground state of one particular Na-related acceptor-exciton complex. Lifetimes of bound excitons and exciton energy transfer between different impurity centres in doped ZnSe are studied in time-resolved measurements in the ps range.
