Abstract

We observed terahertz (THz) radiation from a-axis oriented YBCO thin films for the first time. Ultrashort electromagnetic pulses which were referred to as THz radiation were excited by femtosecond laser pulses. The THz emission efficiency was enhanced by one order of magnitude compared with that from c-axis oriented YBCO thin films.
