Abstract
Ten years ago, in December 1948, the XVII Plenum of the Central Council of the Free German Youth League adopted a decision on founding an organization of young Pioneers. In the years since the Pioneer movement gained wide scope and the Pioneer organization which now unites upwards of 1,500,000 children has become a loyal helper of the working class party and the democratic school in socialist education of the young builders of the new democratic and peace-loving Germany.
