Abstract

Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is a very promising technique especially in medical industry since patient customized products can be fabricated. However, the conventional polymeric materials that used in FDM process have low mechanical properties and are not proper for the most demanding medical applications. These properties can be changed by adding chopped carbon fibres into the pure material. In the present study the tensile mechanical properties of pure and differently reinforced (10%, 15%, 20%) Nylon are investigated under different raster orientation angles. The type of material that exhibits the higher tensile properties is selected for further static structural FEM analysis.
