Abstract

In the present investigation, the multi-walled Carbon Nano Tubes (CNT) of 20mm diameter ware added to the highly reactive magnesium alloys in various combinations to produce a light weight high strength composites for aerospace and terrain applications. The fabrication of these advanced Nanocomposites are carried out by a Stir casting technique under desired conditions inorder to overcome defects since the base metal is highly affinitive to volatile oxygen. The mechanical properties such as microhardness and tensile strength were analyzed to find the impact of CNT on the properties. Also their metallurgical nature were characterized to analyze the bonding nature of the particulate and its formation. Finally, an appropriate combination of the CNT in magnesium were identified which will serve as a rightful material for defense, aeronautical and marine application in the mere future.
