Abstract

XUV emission spectra from a vacuum sliding spark has been studied using grazing incidence technique. An outline of the possible broadening mechanisms in the plasma is given. It is shown that the lines are mainly Doppler (temperature) broadened corresponding to an ion temperature of 1 × 106 K. The electron density is estimated to ∼ 1022m-3.
